Margaret Ama Agyeman (1919-2014) Memorial Scholarship Fund

This scholarship Fund has been established to honour the memory of our beloved grandmother who understood the value of education even when she did not receive any formal education herself. She would sacrifice the only lantern in her home; sit in darkness in order that her grandchildren and other children in her neighbourhood [whose parents could not afford kerosene in their lamps] could use the lantern to do their homework. Nana Ama Agyeman’s selfless sacrifices have achieved enduring results such that her grandchild, Louis Anane and his wife Dr Elizabeth Archampong are able to provide seed money for this Scholarship Fund to continue burning the lantern Nana Ama Agyeman lighted.  We know that Nana Ama Agyeman would continue to support education if her life continued endlessly.  She was born in 1919 and died peacefully at her home when she was expected to wake up and dine with the rest of the family.  This Scholarship Fund will primarily support secondary and post-secondary students from Ghana; and on need basis secondary students from Jamaica.
